A feature film about an MWD -- Military Working Dog -- whose handler is killed in Afghanistan. The handler's family adopts the dog -- named "Max" -- and brings him back home to Texas. When the family is threatened, the dog comes to the rescue.
The movie was released nationwide by Warner Brothers on June 26th, 2015, and then released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 27th. By the end of summer the total US theatrical box office gross was $43 million. The novelization sold over 100,000 copies. Two back-to-back sequels are currently in development, as well as a series of books which will be published by Harper-Collins.
The following photo was taken in June of 2014 when Sheldon Lettich and his wife, Toni, visited the set in North Carolina. The dog between them is "Jagger," one of the six Belgian Malinois dogs that were portraying the title character.
